Five Top Tips – Legal Tech
It seems like we can’t move at the moment without something telling us about about ‘Legal Tech’ – and a legal industry being hugely disrupted by all the things coming out to market. In-house teams are looking for better efficiency, quality and collaboration and are achieving this through improving processes and workflow, with technology acting as the icing on the cake rather than the answer itself. Here are our 5 top tips to think about when looking for technology solutions:
- Don’t be afraid to replace familiar things
Spreadsheets are great, but as tech solutions grow, tools are able to generate a report for you, rather than you doing it yourself. The usual suspects (Word, Excel etc.) will still have their place, but knowing when to avoid them will allow huge efficiency savings.
- Integration is just getting easier
The solutions available today tend to be of the ‘Jack-of-all-trades’ variety and provide functionality that ticks multiple boxes. The vendors also work closely together to ensure that off-the-shelf products will integrate with your enterprise platform and solutions.
- AI is just getting started
It’s an area that’s hot right now, but don’t forget that it’s also a market that is just emerging. It’s already able to free up lawyers so they can focus on higher value work and the disruption is only just getting started, so keep your eyes peeled for developments.
- Keep an eye on start-ups
The legal industry has a reputation of being archaic, but those on the inside know that there are already many movers and shakers disrupting the way we work. Almost weekly there are new solutions popping up that may just be what your team needs.
- Clouds aren’t just for rain
The misconception that your data is floating around somewhere is long gone – cloud solutions are secure and a fantastic enabler for collaboration and accessibility. The security is taken care of for you and it’s scalable as your team grows.
