American Express has carried out multiple assignments with LOD. They range from expanding their in-house team to cope with peaks in workflow and absences to flexible support for specific projects.
AMEX contacted LOD with a need for an insurance lawyer because a member of their team was leaving during a busy period. Our solution was to provide them with an LOD lawyer on site with previous experience working in-house for a UK insurer.
We needed a skilled lawyer to take on work such as contract drafting and commercial arrangements – work that it made sense to keep in-house from both a practical and cost perspective. We approached LOD because we had seen a number of LOD lawyers work successfully within other AMEX legal teams. Our LOD lawyer, Louise, impressed from day one with her ability to slot seamlessly into the team and work autonomously with the business. We renewed her original (three month) contract for two years as it meant we could retain a talented, quality assured lawyer in a cost effective way. We were very happy with the service that we received from LOD and, now that a need for an additional lawyer has arisen, have no hesitation in going back to them for help.

When I started working with AMEX, I had to be proactive and build relationships with business contacts who were seeking support from me as if I were a permanent member of the in-house team. My assignment allowed me to carry out varied and challenging work, including responsibility for key projects, managing cross border work with international counsel and partnering with the insurance business to launch new products across Europe. I gained excellent experience working within a large legal team for an impressive international brand. The LOD HQ team looked after me so well during my assignment and helped to make it a hugely enjoyable experience.
